Saint James College Seminary and its
parent organization, the interfaith Love
Church Worldwide, offer practical training
as to how to build your own small radio
station.

If you have been thinking of
buying an
existing station, you should be aware that
the average "low-end" commercial
broadcasting station will typically cost
from several hundred thousands of dollars
to several million dollars.  And, the chances
of finding one for sale in your community
are slight.

New low power fm radio stations are
licensed by the FCC but only during
certain "application windows" spaced years
apart.  And, it is common for dozens of
applicants to ask the FCC for the same
frequency you are requesting.  You may
very well be left behind if the government
awards your hoped-for frequency to
someone else.

The process can be prohibitively expensive
and can involve years of waiting for a "go-
no go" decision.

There is an
alternative,
however:
 A low-
power transmitter
that serves a
small community
 OR we can help you
get an Internet PODCAST up and
running quickly and inexpensively
!

Our not-for-profit educational
program can teach you how to
conceptualize your station, purchase
equipment, locate a suitable transmitter
site...and
begin broadcasting in a
month's time ...or less
!

YOU...YOUR  AGENCY
or MINISTRY CAN
HAVE ITS OWN
AFFORDABLE SMALL
RADIO STATION

The CENTER FOR
COMMUNITY BROADCASTING
Saint James' non-profit    can teach your faith community or spiritually-oriented
not-for-profit how to:

  • Construct a small radio station utilizing an FCC-approved low power
transmitter with a listening range that typically extends out about two-
miles (This can easily cover many small communities and include
    thousands of potential listeners.)

  • Determine a practical programming strategy

  • Provide real-life examples of services similar stations are currently
    providing.  Some include:
  1. Roadside prayer or mini-sermons.  Cars pull into a parking lot,
tune their radios to a frequency and they may listen to an inspiring
    message 24/7

2.  Can broadcast sabbath sermons to the immediate neighborhood

                       3. Can establish a  first-time-ever radio service
to a small community that currently has no radio
station at all.  We do this with our Wings Radio,
which provides a first-ever local radio station for
the wonderful small town in which we live

    4.  Also, these stations can be portable, making them
ideal for use at camp grounds, camp meetings, group
gatherings, etc., or listened on on computers, iPads,
    or smartphones

  • Our faculty advisors can guide you in the purchase of equipment that is
both effective and affordable, including transmitter, obtaining music
sources, programming computer system, finding affordable network
    news, and so forth.

  • If you would like to stream your programming
over the internet so it can be heard world-wide,
we can help.  We'll introduce you to a few tried-
and-tested options, even one that combines
legally-required music licensing fees with the
    actual system for getting online.

  • We can also assist you in developing a
webpage that will both provide information
about your station, your church, your mission,
    or your school...and interactively offer
audio samples of your programing, local news, weather, community
calendar, and promote events that your church or temple offers.

  • And, our team is highly-experienced in marketing and promotion, which
are important skills to learn as you strive to attract listeners to your new
    low-power radio station.
